Housing First Approach Gains Momentum in Greece
New partnerships with municipalities across Greece are expanding access to permanent housing solutions for people experiencing homelessness.
Read More →HousingFirst.gr is committed to combating homelessness through sustainable housing solutions, education, and community engagement. We believe housing is a fundamental human right.
Housing First is an evidence-based approach that prioritizes providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness, thus providing a pathway out of homelessness and serving as a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life.
At HousingFirst.gr, we believe that housing is not a reward for achieving sobriety or completing treatment programs. Instead, housing is a basic human right and the foundation upon which people can rebuild their lives.
Our model provides immediate access to permanent housing without preconditions, combined with supportive services tailored to individual needs. This approach has been proven effective across Europe, with success rates exceeding 80% in maintaining stable housing.
No prerequisites or conditions for housing placement
Tailored services based on individual needs and goals
Focus on sustainable housing and community integration
We offer a comprehensive range of housing solutions tailored to meet diverse needs and circumstances.
Immediate shelter and support for individuals in crisis situations. Our emergency housing provides a safe, dignified space while we work with residents to secure permanent housing solutions.
Medium-term housing with intensive support services to help individuals develop skills and stability needed for independent living. Typically 6-24 months duration.
Direct access to permanent housing without preconditions, combined with flexible, voluntary support services for as long as needed. Our flagship program with proven success.
One of our unique initiatives is the creation of a comprehensive database of vacant and underutilized properties across Greece. Through our interactive map, citizens can report empty properties in their neighborhoods, helping us identify potential housing opportunities.
This community-driven approach enables us to:
Help us map vacant properties across Greece and contribute to addressing homelessness.
Building capacity and expertise across Greece through comprehensive educational programs.
Regular training sessions for professionals, volunteers, and community members on Housing First principles, trauma-informed care, and best practices in homelessness services.
Accredited certification programs for social workers, housing specialists, and case managers working in homelessness services across Greece and Europe.
Annual national and international conferences bringing together experts, policymakers, practitioners, and people with lived experience to share knowledge and innovations.
Evidence-based research on homelessness in Greece, evaluation of program outcomes, and publication of findings to inform policy and practice.
Measuring success through real outcomes and lasting change in people's lives.
Stay informed about homelessness issues, our programs, and advocacy efforts.
